Cod fish soup with vegetables and spices |
I used cod fish for this soup. Cod is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. When we make soup with cod fish all the oil is retained in the soup. If we fry all the oil is lost.

1. Wash 250 grams of cod fish fish and slice into pieces.
2. Cut 75 grams cabbage, 80 grams carrot, 80 grams celery, 75 grams French beans, 100 grams tomato into bite size pieces.
3. Extract juice from 40 grams tamarind soaked in warm water and keep aside.
4. In a large stock pot or a pan add 2 tbsp vegetable oil and heat it up. Reduce the heat to medium and add 150 grams onion, coarsely chopped and saute for 5 minutes.
5. Add 1 green chili, cut into small pieces,10 curry leaves, chopped and fry for 2 minutes.
6. Add 3 cloves garlic, sliced and 20 grams ginger finely chopped and fry for 1 minute.
7. Add celery and fry for 1 minute.
8. Add tomato and fry for 1 minute.
9. Add carrots and stir once.
10. Add French beans and saute for 2 minutes.
11. Add cabbage and stir once.
12. Then add ½ tsp fenugreek seeds, ½ tsp fennel seed and saute for one minute.
13. Add 1 liter water, 1 vegetable stock cube, ½ tsp turmeric powder and cover the pan and simmer for 10 minutes.
14. Add tamarind juice, 1 tsp salt and cook for 2 minutes.
15. Add the fish and continue to simmer for another 5 minutes.
16. Add crushed 1 tsp black pepper corn and
1 tsp cumin seeds followed by ½ cup coconut milk
and cook for 3 minutes.
Taste for seasoning and adjust.

The soup is ready.It can be served with rice or bread. This is delicious and spicy. You can reduce pepper to make it milder.
